Mama's Birthday Dinner Pt. 1

It was my mom's birthday last week, and I said I'd make dinner for her and my dad this Sunday. I'll be honest, I offered to in order strut what little stuff I've got. So, here's the menu:

Round 1: Mixed-green salad w/ sliced almonds, goat cheese and a raspberry vinegarette
Round 2: Shepherd's Pie w/ home-made mashed potatoes
Round 3: Chocolate cupcakes w/ vanilla frosting, almond gelato w/ raspberry sauce

Because I didn't want to be completely overwhelmed come Sunday, I decided to do some prep work tonight. I whipped up the mashed potatoes and all of Round 3.

Me + Pancakes ≠ Awesome

My buddy Mike came over for breakfast this morning, and I decided to try my hand at pancakes. I remember on special Sunday mornings (special to me, anyway), I'd wake up to the delicious smell of sweet, griddled justice. However, no justice was to be had today. What should have been golden-brown toned childhood memories ended up worse than the Boston Bread Riot of 1713.

Attack of the Six Foot Man Eating Chicken

Hi, there! I'm Tim, the six-foot man eating chicken. BEWARE! I'll be using this space to document a new-found passion in my life - cooking! The autobiography:

I'm a sophomore in college. I am also unemployed. With that in mind, I realized that cooking my own food is way cheaper than eating out. Unfortunately, I also have a very small knowledge of cooking and recipes, so I'll be writing up everything most of the meals I make, to see how my cooking skills progress. I'll tpost the recipes I use, and (maybe?) talk about my new techniques, kitchen tips, etc.

In summary: Me poor. Cooking cheap. Posting good! HULK SMASH!!!
